Join the Community Garlic Mustard Weeding Brigade
When: Sat. April 19, 9 – noon
Where: Palisades Park: go to the end of the gravel road below the park
contact: Mary Lewis, phone: 382-****
It’s spring! And lovely things are poking their heads out of the
ground. But one plant has been green under the snow all winter, the
invasive alien garlic mustard. Early spring is the best and easiest
time to control it, and with enough people aware of it and willing to
do a little digging, we can keep it from taking over our woodlands.
We’ve had great success overcoming it in the Decorah Parks, but we need
to keep at it.Join us for a weeding party on either of the dates below,
to find out how to recognize garlic mustard and the best techniques to
destroy it.
Bring, if you can: hoes, hand diggers (like small spades, sometimes
called trowels), pitchforks

St. Mane Theatre, Lanesboro

Reservations: tickets@lanesboroartcouncil.org
Miss Tess is a young, Boston-based songstress, whose “Modern Vintage” sound mingles freely between eras and genres. Tess strums and picks her way through an array of rhythms, from ragtime, to jump blues, to 30s swing, her vocals soaring, powerful, and smooth as satin. Equally at home in the elegant, and the low-down, she writes songs from her own life, infused with the flavors of early jazz that conjure a cast of dreamers and lovers, down on their luck and charming their ways in and out of trouble. Familiar faces are known to mix in this crowd, courtesy of folks like Bessie Smith and Tom Waits.
